Avocukiyom Manual Transfer Switch
A manual transfer switch — the safe, legal way to connect a portable generator to your home's circuits, letting you switch chosen circuits from the mains to the generator and back without ever back-feeding the grid. A metal enclosure with clearly marked circuit switches and an inlet; it must be wired into the consumer unit by a qualified electrician — this is not a plug-in device. The part that makes a portable generator safe to run the house.
- Type: manual home transfer switch
- Function: switch chosen circuits between mains and generator
- Install: wired into the consumer unit by a qualified electrician; never back-feed a socket
A fuel-burning generator gives off carbon monoxide, a poison you cannot see or smell: never run a generator indoors, in a garage, a carport or any enclosed or partly enclosed space, and never near open windows, doors or air vents — run it outdoors, well away from the house, with the exhaust pointed away. Never connect a generator to your home wiring through a wall socket (back-feeding) — it can kill you or a line worker; a generator is connected to the house only through a proper transfer switch installed by a qualified electrician, and a fixed standby generator is installed by a qualified electrician (and, for a gas model, a competent gas engineer). Handle and store fuel safely, let the exhaust cool before refuelling, keep the generator dry and do not overload it. Read the manual. CE marked where applicable. The statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies to consumers.
